It doesn't seem possible, but in less than two weeks, Fayette students will be heading back to class, and teachers and administrators are already getting ready for the opening bell.
If you're planning a big back-to-school shopping binge this weekend, Fayette merchants say "come on out," but remember, there are no tax free shopping days this year as there have been since 2002.
Three separate bills that would have mandated the days stalled in this year's legislative session so you must pay sales taxes on formerly exempt items this weekend.
While parents and students are shopping, teachers are planning. This week, new teachers are undergoing a week of orientation, and all teachers will report for pre-planning on Monday.
Students who are entering new schools this year are encouraged to attend orientations. Teachers, counselors, administrators and bus drivers will be on hand to answer questions.
