District 16 Sen. Ronnie Chance, R-Tyrone, is one of only a few Georgia legislators receiving a perfect score from the Regional Business Coalition of Metropolitan Atlanta, an organization of over a dozen metropolitan Atlanta Chambers of Commerce.
The 2009-2010 Legislative Scorecard tracks metro Atlanta's legislators' votes on eight key pieces of pro-business legislation related to transportation, water and air quality. Out of 112 legislators, 27 had scored a perfect 100 percent. District 28 Sen. Mitch Seabaugh, R-Sharpsburg, also had a perfect score.
"It is important for employers and employees alike to know how their legislators voted on key issues related to transportation and water," said Terry Lawler, the RBC's executive director.
"As the metropolitan Atlanta region continues to grapple with the challenges of traffic congestion and water conservation, we all need to know the positions of our elected officials," Lawler said. "The RBC legislative scorecard helps accomplish that goal."
Votes and legislation used to calculate the score included support for grants and loans for water reservoirs, support for a statewide strategic transportation plan, opposition to restrictive interbasin water transfer legislation and support for allowing a regional transportation sales tax referendum.
