Firefighters do their best to control the flames at a house off of Corinth Road. No one was hurt in the blaze(special photo) "It's pretty much a total loss of everything."
That's how fire officials described the blaze that destroyed a home on Millers Oak Way located off Corinth Road in east Fayette County.
Fire units from Fayette County and the city of Fayetteville responded to the incident Monday, just after noon.
Officials are still trying to determine the cause of the fire, said Fayette County Fire Lt. Donnie Davis.
A crew of tree removal workers were in a nearby area when they noticed smoke and fire coming from the home, Davis said.
A bystander from the crew then banged on the door to see if anyone was inside of the home. At that time, he heard a dog barking and quickly kicked in the door, removing the dog from the home.
Davis said the homeowner and her family were not home when the fire occurred and no injuries have been reported at this time.
"Our biggest issue was the heat elements," said Davis.
He added that fire personnel kept plenty of water on hand to keep firefighters hydrated as they battled the flames at the home.
