2010-07-15

The Peachtree City Police and Fire Departments are asking residents for help in tracking down the people responsible for two suspected vehicle arsons.

Peachtree City Police Spokeswoman Capt. Roseanna Dove said both of the city's public safety departments are currently investigating a pair of suspicious vehicle fires that occurred at residences along Everhill and Rockspray Roads over the past two weeks.

According to Dove, On July 4th, 2010, at approximately 2:30 am, an early model Toyota Celica was set on fire in the driveway of the residence located at 109 Everhill, Peachtree City. Only several days after that, on July 11th, 2010, at approximately 1:50 am, a late model Chevrolet Aveo was set on fire in the driveway of the residence located at 125 Rockspray Ridge, Peachtree City.

"I heard the sirens and saw the lights, so I stepped outside to see what was going on," said Christopher Dunn, a Peachtree City resident who witnessed the July 4 fire from his home.

"A car was completely engulfed in flames, just sitting in one of our neighbor's driveway. It just didn't make any sense."

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Dove encourages anyone with information that would assist the Police Department in this or other incidents to contact the Peachtree City Criminal Investigations Division at 770-631-2510, the Peachtree City Police Department's Crime and Narcotics Information Hotline at (770) 487-6010, or the Georgia Arson Control Board at 1-800-282-5804.
